Questions we get most.
Network coverage, deployment timelines, data ownership, contract terms, sensors, pricing, regulatory work. Answered directly.
What if my site isn't within network range yet?
Two paths. If you're in or near a planned 2026-2027 expansion city (Maardu, Paldiski, Pärnu, Tartu, Narva, Tallinn), we add your site to the rollout map and you get Network Service pricing once a node is live nearby. If you're outside the planned footprint or you can't wait, we deploy a Private Network node dedicated to your facility. The deployment window runs 8-12 weeks, on a Private Network subscription scoped to your site.
How long does deployment take?
Network Service: 2-4 weeks from contract signing to first flight. Onboarding involves site survey, mission plan calibration, integration with your existing systems (SCADA / CMMS / VMS), and operator training. Private Network: 8-12 weeks because of dedicated node installation, custom mission profiles, and any on-prem deployment requirements.
Can I see a sample report?
Yes. Sample report formats per industry are walked through during the site assessment call: thermal anomaly findings, perimeter event log, OGI emissions record, progress orthomosaic with change detection. NDA-covered reference packages are released to qualifying design partners after the assessment. The format is the deliverable you receive on every flight.
Who owns the data?
You do. All flight imagery, detections, and reports are your property under the service contract. We process data in EU data centers under GDPR and EU NIS2. We do not share, sell, or use customer data for any purpose beyond delivering your service. On-prem deployment is available for customers who require imagery to never leave their site.
What happens if weather grounds the fleet?
Our nodes are weather-rated for continuous outdoor operation through Nordic winters down to −30 °C. In extreme conditions (sustained winds above operational limits, severe icing, heavy snow events), missions are postponed and rescheduled. Subscription pricing is fixed regardless of weather; we make up missed missions in following days. Storm-mode auto-launch resumes the moment conditions return to safe envelope.
What sensors come standard? What's available on demand?
Standard payload envelope per node: 4K visual, radiometric thermal, photogrammetry, multispectral. Specialty sensors (optical gas imaging for hydrocarbon-leak surveys, electroluminescence imager for solar deep-inspection, RF spectrum spotter, narrowband low-light) are arranged via specialist partner operators at quarterly or on-demand cadence. They live on different airframes than the Aerion node fleet. Sensor selection is configured per industry during onboarding.
Do I need to handle any drone regulation?
No. Aerion holds the regulatory authorizations: STS-02 declaration in 2026, SORA for BVLOS in 2026-2027, LUC for self-authorization in 2027-2028. Customers are not pilots, do not file flight plans, do not coordinate with national aviation authorities, do not deal with airspace clearance. We handle all of it. Operations & Compliance →
Can I cancel mid-contract?
Network Service: monthly rolling, 30-day notice to cancel. Private Network: 12-month minimum term given the dedicated infrastructure investment, then monthly rolling with 60-day notice. We'd rather you stay because the service delivers value than because you're locked in. Cancellation policy is one of the items we discuss during the site assessment.
How does pricing work? Can I get a quote?
We offer two models: shared Network Service and dedicated Private Network. Network Service is priced well below a dedicated deployment; Private Network is scoped per site. Exact pricing depends on mission cadence, sensor mix, integration depth, and contract length. Request a site assessment and we'll respond within 2 business days with a proposed configuration and quote. See service models.
What integrations do you support?
Industry-specific. SCADA / DCS for industrial facilities. CMMS (Maximo, SAP) for work-order generation. GIS (ArcGIS, ESRI) for asset registries. VMS (Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon) for security. TOS (Navis, CATOS, OPUS) for ports. WMS / TMS for logistics. CAD/dispatch for public safety. BIM (Revit, Bentley, ArchiCAD) for construction. AIS for maritime. Custom integrations via APIs and webhooks where needed. Each industry page lists its full integration set.
Do you fly indoors or under cover?
No. Aerion is built for outdoor operations. We monitor yards, perimeters, roofs, stacks, exterior structures, and corridors. Indoor monitoring requires different airframes, regulatory profiles, and obstacle-avoidance logic. We partner with indoor-drone operators where customers need both, but we don't deliver indoor coverage ourselves.
Tartu U-space: what is it and why does it matter?
U-space is the EU's regulatory framework for safely integrating drones into shared airspace. Tartu, Estonia operates the EU's only fully-operational U-space sandbox. It is a zone where commercial drone operators can test, validate, and refine BVLOS missions under live conditions with regulatory oversight. Aerion's first municipal partnerships and public-safety deployments launch from Tartu specifically because the U-space environment compresses regulatory timelines that take 12-24 months elsewhere in Europe.
